In a week, we head on a road trip to the Grand Canyon. My wife’s Infiniti is having a factory towing kit installed, and I want to take the Vespa.

Kinja'd!!!

Does anyone have experience with these? The Vespa only weighs about 235 pounds, so I think I will be ok.

Yes, I am a crazy person who wants to take a Vespa on vacation.

I used to carry a 440lb Yamaha FZ6 on the hitch of my 07 4runner. Steering went floaty but the bike never went anywhere (properly tie it down)

This was with the Harbor Fright motorcycle carrier.

Make sure you order a hitch stabilizer like this:

to prevent wobbling/rocking

I’d double check who much weight the hitch can carry. all of your weight will be on the tounge, so if the vespa and the hitch are OVER that capacity, no bueno. you’d have to get a small trailer and stick the vespa on top.

I think a dirt bike carrier is going to be overkill..they make smaller scooter carriers too;
